Review - The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss

Hello, hello! TGIF, am I right? Hopefully you get a couple days off now or at least, some time off soon! For now, but the grind continues here and today I thought I would do a quick review on a book series that had a big impact on my style of writing. So, without further ado, let's get to it! Since I was young, fantasy novels have always found their way into my bookshelf. I think everyone my age, had either the Deltora Quest or Ranger's Apprentice books when they were kids. Of course, there was also the classic Eragon series as we got older, which helped us branch into the timeless masterpiece of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series. An all-time favourite of mine (and will be forever) are the Skulduggery Pleasant series, spanning across 13 books with two more to come. But all of these books, despite how amazing they are, aren't the ones I am going to talk about today. Today, I am going to talk about the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. Currently, ther...

My First Month as a Full Time Writer

Hello, hello! I hope everyone is doing well today and have been during these trying times! This week marks my first month of writing full time, so today I thought I'd talk about how I have found this first month! This first month of writing has been a bit of a roller coaster for me. Starting up high and come plummeting down only to go back up again in some kind of twisted loop (why do people like those death traps?). I knew going into this lifestyle that it wouldn’t be all peaches and roses and that it would take extreme dedication in order to get where I want to be. But in these early days, I have found issues that I didn’t think would either exist or affect me as much as they did. The main problem that I find myself having is the lack of ideas on what to write about, especially when it comes to these blog posts. After having wanted to do something like this for a long time, I thought I would have endless ideas on things to talk about, but that isn’t always the case. I originall...

My Experience with the ANZAC's

Hello, hello! Today I thought thought I could share with all of you my experiences with the ANZAC's. For readers outside of Australia and New Zealand, ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps which operated in the First World War or the Great War. In 2012, I was extremely fortunate enough to be selected as part of the Lest We Forget  project and Footsteps of Honour  tour, which was a two week overseas trip in order to commemorate Australian soldiers who had died in battle during the War. The group, which consisted of 30 other peers, was a project created and maintained by Michael Goodwin, a History teacher of Mackay North State High School. Goodwin created the project in 1999 and took select students to Turkey, Belgium, France and Singapore to commemorate those soldiers. At the time of writing, he has continued to do so for many years, the latest tour which is now being set for a 2021 departure. Goodwin has naturally been awarded the very deserving Order of Austr...

My Take of Ghost of Tsushima

Ah video games. They've been a staple in most peoples lives, one way or another and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon, with the upcoming releases of the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. But for today, we're going to talk about a new game that came out last month that I have been absolutely loving, Ghost of Tsushima.  Made by gaming development company Sucker Punch Productions, it is an open world game based around main character Jin Sakai, a samurai on Tsushima Island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. As you progress through the story, Jin has to decided whether or not to hang on to his proud Samurai traditions or resort to something more extreme in order to save his island. Lets break the game down! Storyline The storyline that Sucker Punch have come up with is nothing short than amazing. Being a Samurai in the time where there was't many left, gives a sense of duty to the player as they run around the island helping out different ci...

Sequels that Reign Supreme!

Ah, sequels. The love and hate relationship of all movie goers. There is nothing worse than having your favourite movie getting a sequel, you being hyped up for it, waiting months and months, only to finally get to see it and for it to be utter, utter garbage. But, on those rare occasions, you get blessed with another good movie. A great movie. An OMG this second movie is better than the first one! And that's what we're talking about today. Movies that are better in a sequel. Now, for most of these movies I am going to talk about, it will be their immediate second, but I will also include one or two movies that were down the line from the original. Let's get to it! American Pie 2 - The American Pie Franchise This movie is my favourite movie in the American Pie  franchise, and even gets close to the top with my favourite movies of all time. What makes the second movie so much better than the first is the way it flows. In American Pie, they tried to make the classic ameri...

My Take on the Restart of the NBA

Hello, hello! Here we are, back again at the start of another week. I hope that everyone is doing well and that you all enjoyed the weekends, or whatever time you had off! Today I thought we would talk about something that I have been around for the better part of the last 15 years of my life. Basketball! I'm going to touch on how I think the NBA restart has been handled and my opinions on who I think is going to win awards and the hardware that goes with champions. Let's get into it! The Bubble In a country where COVID-19 is running rampart, I was very hesitant at first at the idea of trying to restart sport. But, as more and more details came out about how the NBA were going to handle it, I have to say that I am extremely impressed. Having a closed area within Walt Disney World in Orlando, is something that I wouldn't have thought possible. But it seems that it is working extremely well. Most players and team staff, reporters and commentators, are taking everythi...
